Meet the Pastor
The Rev. Beth Givens began serving at Haygood in July of 2021. She has served four other appointments in her career, which began in 1995. A Virginia native, Pastor Beth grew up in Richmond, got her undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia, and went to seminary at Candler School of Theology in Atlanta. Pastor Beth is passionate about empowering people in local churches to connect with God and discover new places where God is leading them. One of her favorite Bible verses is John 15:16a: "You did not choose me, but I chose you. And I appointed you to go and bear fruit, fruit that will last.” Pastor Beth is the mom of two young adult daughters currently in college and graduate school.

We currently have two worship opportunities at Haygood UMC.
The Beacon: Traditional Worship that Shines God’s Light at 9:30 am.
This worship service meets in the Sanctuary and lasts about 45 minutes, and music includes congregational song, a choir, piano accompaniment and handbells. Services include scripture, a sermon and prayers of the people as well as other acts of worship. This service is held in our sanctuary, across the lobby from our social hall, and accessed from the east or west parking lots. People typically wear business casual clothing.
Crossroads: Modern Worship at the Intersection of God and Life at 10:45 am.
The Crossroads service meets in the Social Hall and typically lasts 45 minutes to an hour and the music is modern praise music including piano, guitars, bass, and drums. The service includes scripture, a sermon and prayers of the people. The service is casual and held in our social hall, across the lobby from our sanctuary and accessed from the east or west parking lots.. People wear casual to business casual clothing.

We have Children’s Church and Nursery available during both the 9:30 am and 10:45 am worship services.
All of our staff and volunteers are Safe Sanctuaries trained.
